- January 09, 2007: Working Paper available!
- This paper describes results of the first part of study, i.e.
the survey among contributors to the German Wikipedia. It is
currently under review for publication.
In this international version of the survey, we implemented a number
of ideas and suggestions we got from our survey of the German Wikipedia
project a few weeks ago.
Please note:
This survey has been developed for people who are actively engaged in
the Wikipedia project (e.g. as author, administrator, translator, or
in community discussions). If you're simply using Wikipedia as an encyclopedia,
please do not participate in this survey.
Please only participate once. Thank you!
Goals of Our Study
We are very pleased about your interest in our study. We are interested
in the reasons why Wikipedians are involved with Wikipedia as
author, software developer or organizer. We are also interested
whether these reasons reasons have changed over time.
We hope this study will
- provide statistical data and insight about Wikipedia
which go beyond previous reports in the media and
- encourage a helpful discussion between participants and
- reveal best practices for Wikipedia and related
Open Content projects.
